Slow Internet Connection fix is on the way

Are you having a slow internet connection lately and for this few days or weeks? At my place now which is in Malaysia, are experiencing the slow and sometimes even can’t even access any of the website or even fully receive my emails. How to fix the slow internet connection? Well, currently the situation is what claimed and announced from TheStar via TMNET, the undersea cable was disrupted and are currently under fixing progress. And for what the announcement mentioned, it is expected to be fixed before 31st December 2008 or will be notify for further notice. Yesterday, before the New Year 2009 arrive, I was heard from the radio that the fixing or the connection will be restore by 4th January 2009.

Guess that I have to wait for another few days and be patient about the connection. Not just surfer in Malaysia are facing the same issue but also other countries which is also at the moment struggling on the internet connection. For me, I am having some trouble posting a post here and to others website of mine. I have to get the post done offline, and then try paste it on my WordPress, and trying saving it. It took me nearly about 15 minutes to 30 minutes to get this post successfully published or saved.

For other reason rather than the undersea cable problem, if you are facing a slow internet connection just make sure you have done the advice stated below : (Before you attempt to use the method stated below, please sure you have backup your important data and files.)

1. Make sure your Anti-Virus Software are up to date. Try run a full scan to check any virus infected.
2. Is your XP/Vista security updates are up to date? Try update or let it update more often.
3. Disable any unnecessary files running background which you can look at the list on the Task Manager. Or use a software which is free to download called “HijackThis” via the Trend Micro website.
4. Check whether your torrent software or any P2P software are still running at the back which taken most of the internet bandwidth. If using network, check your other pc for any running P2P or even Flashget software that downloading certain files.
5. Try clear or delete all temp files of your browser software, if can, try clearing the cookies.
6. Off your modem router for 1~3 minutes and try ON it back again, see if you will get a better internet connection.
7. Very rare case, changing your network card. If your network card is onboard, try plugin a PCI type slot. If you are using a USB Modem, try plug the USB modem to another PC see if its still the same slow connection.
8. Give your ISP a call, ask if there is any issue about your or the internet connection problem.
9. Try using the command prompt to ping any website, see if there’s any loss via the ping statistic and diagnose how fast is the response when you try to ping. Press the Start button, select Run and type in “cmd” or “command” to access the command prompt to use this test.
10. Some of us might do it this way, go to the nearest WiFi Free area to access internet or any cybercafe to access internet.

Beside earning online, above mentioned are some few steps that a webmaster and blogger should aware of. Not just trying earning but also sometime we need to try solve thing ourselves.

Do I really earn well from my website?

About 2 months ago, I signup Infolinks an In-text ads link advertising, which also I started embedded the code on my blogs and website to start earning money. I’ve notice that the earning revenue I earned not well for this blog, it could be due to few reasons, traffic, keywords, niche and or maybe some other reasons which I don’t it would be appropriate to mentioned. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t earn money from Infolinks, cos I have other blogs and website, and some are doing well using Infolinks.

Same goes to other that can help you to earn money with their service. There could be many reason that you can’t earn much but if can, try have a check list for yourself like why is it earning to little with this website? or is it because of the niche on the website doesn’t really can’t well, or is it the traffic is too low, because of keywords and how your blogs or website are having on it?.

For my opinion, or maybe other would think the same too, earning more money from your website, it really depend on the list mentioned below, (which is my personal check list, that I should always check and always ask myself)

Earning 7 Step Check List
1. Traffic
Maybe my traffic is too low, so I can’t earn more without traffic. Traffic either from search engine, social network, other blog link toward your website, isn’t gaining much at all.
Q.: Whats the main issue that I can’t get much traffic?
A.: Could be the keywords that you’ve posted or on your website weren’t that popular at all, so you will gain less traffic from search engine. On Social Network, your popularity wasn’t really expose much or contents on your website, doesn’t attract much people to look on it. Changing your style and your way of mentioning on your website, from time to time would actually or can actually help you know what your audience or reader what to look or read. Try get and find something interesting to talk about on net, something which is fresh and unique, and if readers or other blogger found that your content are interesting, they will sure give you a linkback mentioning about your products or post.

2. Keywords
Too many competitors and too few mentioning your website about the products or keywords. If you got some budget, you might want to try out the Google Adwords, which I think many have success stories about using the Adwords. This way, it will sure increase your traffic from search engine, or if lucky, some might even have a post about your website on theirs. You might want to check out your own keyword popularity via the Google Keyword Tool, which is very useful, and you can signup for the keyword at the same time on the page of the result.

3. Niche
Sometimes it could be due to your products or post, doesn’t really match the advertisement, and you won’t gain much from it. Try having the ads running on your other website or blog. The ads doesn’t suits your website now, doesn’t mean it will also not suit in future.

4. Website issue
Slow loading, visitor can’t wait for the page to fully load for even 10 minutes unless it some video clips, but if it is just contents, I wouldn’t even want to wait, I might as well try find another website that also mentioned the same thing that I am looking for.

5. Ads Placement issue
Your ad weren’t placed in a proper place where visitor can notice how interesting the ads are, or your ads weren’t running at all when the customer, visitors and readers are on the website. Some ads, are being blocked by other images or something blocking it from showing.

6. Error landing page
Always have a check on your 404 stats, which showed how many visitor have knocked on the wrong door entrance. If you notice something is missing or the page have already deleted, make sure you fix it, either by mentioning on the 404 page, that you’ve moved this page to, or let visitor have a choice to find another page on your website.

Above mentioned is my own personal opinions and check list, yours could be different point of view. The list doesn’t really applied to all website or blog, but might have somehow give you some idea about why your site doesn’t earning much money.
